You ask me
To commit to something I can’t even imagine.
To strive for something that seems beyond my grasp.
A leap of faith you ask,
As if trust alone weren’t hard enough already.
How do you commit to the unknown?
Like surrendering yourself to the mercy of the ocean’s tides?
Fighting every instinct telling you to swim.
Letting the weight of the water pull you,
While your lungs burn for air.
hoping to drown out the darkness?
Maybe in the hopes of being swept ashore a tropical beach?
Or maybe just in the hopes that the swim will wash you somewhere new,
Clean of the stain of the past.
